[Borough of New Milford] Jr. Police Academy Enrollment Form

JUNIOR POLICE ACADEMY

The New Milford Jr. Police Academy is open to all incoming 6th through 8th grade New Milford Middle School Students and will run from Monday, July 3, 2023 through Friday, July 7, 2023.

The purpose of this academy program is to build a positive relationship between the New Milford Police Department and the youth of the community as well as encourage good citizenship through criminal justice education and positive interaction between the youth of New Milford and Police Officers.

Our police academy program reinforces core values which build good character by teaching our students about various law enforcement functions and agencies, discipline, motivation, study skills, and how to be able to be a team player in helping build citizen partnerships with the police.

Max of 75 spaces available – to be filled on a 1st come 1st serve basis.

Information:

Applicant must be a New Milford Resident entering 6th – 8th grade in September of the coming school year.
$100.00 fee per student
You MUST provide a lunch for your child every day.
Trips to be determined. Past trips have included Bergen County Police & Fire Academy, Palisade Interstate Police, US Marshall.
TeamSnap will be used for all communication and to provide the daily itinerary. Please be sure to download the App and update your child’s availability for each event.
Arrival time will be promptly at 8:00am in the swim club parking lot unless advsied otherwise.
Pick up time will be promptly at 3:00pm. Any changes will be communicated through Team Snap.
Groups will be assigned the first day of the academy.
Uniform T-Shirts & backpacks will be distributed the first day of camp and are expected to be worn every day.
The recruits WILL have some daily physical exercise (push-ups, sit-ups, etc.)
Any medical infringements must be communicated on the registration form.
Please review The Code of Conduct with your child as it will be strictly enforced. The School Resource Officers reserve the right to remove your child from the program if they continue to violate The Code of Conduct agreement.

JUNIOR POLICE ACADEMY

CODE OF CONDUCT

Recruits will refrain from physical and verbal violence towards other recruits and academy staff.
Recruits will act in a professional manner at all times and follow directions from the academy staff.
Recruits will wear the uniform supplied, along with athletic sneakers during each academy day.
Recruits will wear their uniform appropriately and in accordance with the academy rules.
Recruits will refrain from vulgar, offensive, or threatening speech.
Recruits will follow all the rules and regulations as directed by the academy staff.
Recruits will refrain from bullying, teasing, or harassing other recruits.
Recruits will arrive promptly on each morning of the academy.
Recruits will not be allowed to bring iPods, MP3 players, video games, or other electronic gaming or music devices to the Academy.
Cell phones are permitted but must remain off or on silent and will only be used for emergencies or calling for a ride at the end of the day.
Any injuries or illnesses suffered by the recruit should immediately be brought to the attention of an instructor.
Any act or threat of physical violence towards another recruit or staff member will result in the recruit’s immediate removal from the program.
Recruits who violate any of the Academy rules will be expelled from the program.
